A/R :Bonwire SHS, SIMMS Get 600 Core Maths Textbooks From MTN-Ghana

    The leading telecommunication network in Ghana, MTN-Ghana, has gifted six thousand (6000)core maths textbooks to some selected senior high schools in Ghana.     In the Ashanti Region , Bonwire Senior High Technical School and Simms Senior High School benefited from the donation.  They all received three hundred copies each.    The textbook was published by Elite Publication.    Speaking after the presentation, Mr. Simon Amoh, Acting General Manager for MTN-Northern Business District said the company was committed to investing in the lives of the people.   He said the donation forms part of MTN’S three-pronged social responsibility focus that is investing in education, health and economic empowerment.   He pledged the company’s commitment to repeating gestures such as book donations as and when it receives appeals or determine the need of same in senior high schools in the country.   The Acting Manager mentioned that MTN was replicating the books donation in six schools in the country and was giving out 6,000 books at a cost of GHC60, 000.00. ‘’MTN is giving these books to inspire our brothers and sisters at these six senior secondary schools to take lessons in mathematics serious so as to record excellent grades in same’’, Mr Amoh intimated.   At Bonwire, in the Ejisu Municipality in the Ashanti Region, Madam Cassandra Osei Wusu Antobreh, Headmistress of Bonwire Senior High Technical School was grateful to MTN for supporting the school with textbooks.   She, however, asked for more of such textbooks since the school had about 2,100 students to teach. The school, Madam Antobreh also revealed is lacking the infrastructure to accommodate the huge numbers studying on campus.   She said most of the furniture on campus is broken and would need some urgently to replace same so that students can sit comfortably to learn.   Mr. Eric Adom Marfo, Headmaster of  Simms Senior High school in the Kwabre East Municipality commended MTN-Ghana for the gesture and noted the donation will help the students to have access to books. The availability of books, he noted will encourage students to learn to get good grades. Mr. Marfo however, promised to put the books into good use as they strive to do well in Mathematics from this academic year onwards.    Source:broadcastergh.com/Ayisah Foster
