The Bright Future Mental Health Initiative has donated office furniture to the Oforikrom Municipal Education Directorate as part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening mental health support systems within schools across the municipality.
The presentation, which took place on February 19, 2026, forms part of the Initiative’s broader efforts to enhance the administrative environment necessary for coordinating school-based mental health programmes.
The delegation was led by Mr. Sarfo Adu Emmanuel, Chief Operating Officer (COO), and Mr. Raymond Atta Dadzie, Communications and Advocacy Officer (CAO). They explained that the donation is intended to facilitate the effective planning and coordination of activities aligned with the organisation’s core objectives.
These objectives include raising public awareness and reducing stigma associated with mental health conditions, delivering community and school-based mental health education, conducting brief non-diagnostic mental health screenings, and strengthening referral pathways to existing public mental health services.
According to representatives of the Initiative, the gesture marks a significant step in a broader engagement strategy with local education authorities aimed at improving early mental health support structures within schools. The organisation believes that education-led awareness campaigns and well-structured referral systems are critical to addressing mental health challenges among school-aged children.
As part of efforts to deepen collaboration, the Initiative has requested technical and operational support from the Directorate in several key areas. These include guidance to ensure alignment with national mental health policies, assistance in establishing referral pathways to designated public health facilities, participation of a Directorate representative in an upcoming stakeholder engagement session, and advisory input on data collection and reporting standards relevant to programme implementation.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Directorate, Mrs. Dorothy Opare-Baidu, Director of the Oforikrom Municipal Education Directorate, expressed appreciation for the support and commended the Initiative for its proactive approach to mental health advocacy.
She assured the delegation of the Directorate’s readiness to explore sustainable avenues for collaboration aimed at improving mental health literacy and expanding access to support services for school-aged populations within the municipality.
The partnership is expected to contribute meaningfully to creating safer, more supportive school environments, where mental health awareness is prioritised and early intervention mechanisms are strengthened.
