The Ashanti Regional Minister,Dr Frank Amoakohene in a bid to strengthen emergency response mechanisms, met with the Fire Service Commander, ACFO Peter Tetteh and senior officers to discuss the recent fire incident at Adum PZ in Kumasi. The meeting aimed to receive updates, express gratitude, and reaffirm commitment to safeguarding communities.
During the meeting, five key issues were deliberated upon:
– Formation of a Taskforce and Rapid Response Unit: A proposed unit comprising the Fire Service, Police, and NADMO will ensure compliance with fire safety regulations and create accessible vehicular routes in the PZ area.
– Personnel Support through YEA and NSS: A program will be developed to channel personnel from the Youth Employment Agency and National Service Scheme into public education, engagement, and operational duties related to fire safety.
– Logistical Support: The Minister assured the Fire Service of necessary logistical support to enhance their operations, on behalf of H.E. President John Dramani Mahama and the Minister for the Interior, Hon Muntaka Mubarak.
– Other Key Issues: The meeting also touched on the importance of collaboration and community safety.
The Minister extended heartfelt appreciation to the Fire Service and all security agencies for their unwavering commitment and hard work in addressing the challenges posed by the Adum PZ fire incident.
