Be ready to purchase your wards books at higher prices-GNAAP to parents

The Ghana National Association of Authors and Publishers has urged parents and guidance to accept the high prices of books for Pre-Schools and basic schools textbooks to go cash and Carry and high cost.

Mr John Akwasi Amponsah, President of the Association at a press conference explained that, the current economic circumstance in Ghana and its devastating effects on businesses and livelihoods has generated much concern for most industries, which he said has called for members of the Ghana National Association of Authors and Publishers to alert the general public on the increases of prices of books and standardized discount policy.
He stated that, the economic circumstances of the country underpinned by exchange rate, inflation, fuel prices and trade terms is having a toll on book development, marketing and promotion in Ghana.
He noted that, as a result, they the members of the Ghana National Association of Authors and Publishers resolve that, the prices of books shall be higher than usual for learners in pre-tertiary schools;
He disclosed that, book sales in Ghana shall primarily run on cash and carry basis, as a new standardized discount policy be introduce that includes schools purchasing materials on cash and carry basis shall enjoy 15% discount; Schools purchasing materials on credit basis to enjoy 10% discount; Bookshops purchasing books on cash and carry basis shall enjoy 25% discount; Bookshops operators purchasing books on credit basis shall enjoy 20 % discount; whole book distributors shall enjoy 25% on books distributed.
He underscored that, all credit worthy clients which are schools, bookshops and distributors dealing with them on credit basis shall have a credit period of 30 days to make payment in full.
