Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress , Chairman Augustus Andrews Nana Akwasi has paid GHC 3000 as apprenticeship fees for Amina Ismaila,a 25 year old lady who is unemployed.
Amina Ismaila is a native of Nyinahin in the Atwima Mponua constituency in the Ashanti region.
According to the chairman,NDC is set to enroll an apprenticeship program for the Ghanaian youth as an effort to equip the youth to be self-employed and to reduce unemployment in the country in their next administration.
The project is to empower a lot of the youth with the requisite skills set in apprenticeship.
Speaking to the media after the payment of the fees he said, the next NDC government is poised to ensure that the youth are given vocational skills to ensure that they are self-employed, this he believes will reduce the tendency of unemployment in the Country.
According to him, “the young ladies in the Atwima Mponua constituency are very excited about the policy and NDC is ready to help them to be independent regarding creating jobs for themselves so that they also live decent lives”.
He added, “NDC’s vision is to declare a whole vast area for fashion designing, for fabrics, and many others to enable people to have jobs and help develop the country”.
He reiterated that the NDC government will initiate policies in the 2025 budget to help support majority of the youth in entrepreneurship and apprenticeship.
In addition to the apprenticeship fees , the Chairman will pay the graduation fees for Amina Ismaila and give her a startup capital for the business.
The Chairman also believes that this unique initiative will go a long way toward helping the many young people in Ghana who are unemployed to gain a source of livelihood.
He urged the parents to assist their children in getting the necessary skills training by supporting them.
