The former Constituency Chairman for Afigya Kwabre South, Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, has issued a passionate appeal to members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to exercise caution in their interactions with one another.

In a recent Facebook post, COKA reminded party members that Ghanaians would ultimately support only one NPP candidate in the 2028 general election.

COKA emphasized the importance of maintaining a united front within the party, particularly in the face of internal contests. While acknowledging that supporters have the right to back their preferred candidates, he urged them to do so in a peaceful and respectful manner. “You have the right to support whoever you want in any internal contest, but do it peacefully with respect for the other candidates because in the end, we will have to market the winner to Ghanaian voters,” COKA stated.

The former NPP chairman highlighted the need for party members to consider the bigger picture and the ultimate goal of winning the general election. He noted that the winner of any internal contest would need to be marketed to Ghanaian voters, and that party members should therefore avoid making statements that could damage the party’s chances.

COKA also expressed a desire for greater transparency within the party, specifically with regards to the report submitted by Professor Mike Oquaye. “I wish Professor Mike Oquaye’s report was made public to stakeholders in the party to guide us all,” he said. This call for transparency reflects COKA’s commitment to ensuring that the party operates in a fair and open manner.

In his statement, COKA emphasized the importance of unity and respect within the NPP. He concluded by expressing his hope that party members would be guided by a sense of responsibility and a commitment to the party’s success. “May God help us to understand. Amen. Coka, I care.” COKA’s appeal serves as a timely reminder of the need for party members to work together towards a common goal, and to prioritize the party’s interests above individual ambitions.
