Commercial Transport Operators Demand Arrest of Former Roads Minister Kwasi Amoako Atta Over Alleged Financial Mismanagement

Commercial Transport Operators (CTO) have issued an open letter dated October 26, 2025, calling for the immediate arrest and investigation of Hon. Kwasi Amoako Atta, former Minister for Roads and Highways, citing significant financial losses to the state stemming from his tenure.

The letter alleges Mr. Amoako Atta’s actions, particularly the cancellation of road tolls meant for road maintenance and development, led to substantial revenue shortfalls. CTOs argue the manner of toll cancellation and management has drawn widespread criticism.

The open letter provides illustrative calculations based on hypothetical bus terminal operations:
– Example: 1 Sprinter bus paying GH₵1 per trip.
– Assumed Activity: 10 trips/day (5 trips x 2 directions), leading to GH₵10/day.

– Projection: GH₵300/month per bus; GH₵30,000/month for 100 terminals.
– 2-Year Estimate: ~GH₵720,000 lost revenue (GH₵30,000 x 24 months).

CTO leaders demand Kwasi Amoako Atta’s arrest and investigation for alleged mismanagement contributing to state financial losses. They stress Ghana’s need for transparency and accountability in public resource management.

The call for accountability reflects broader Ghanaian debates on governance and economic stewardship. Authorities’ response to these demands may spotlight transparency efforts in addressing alleged public sector mismanagement.
