The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Kwetey, has issued a strong warning that electoral malpractices and crimes will not go unpunished.
In a brief post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Mr Kwetey cautioned individuals involved in election irregularities, signalling accountability after the anticipated transition of power on January 7.
“Electoral crimes have no expiry date. After January 7, the time of reckoning will come,” the post read.
Mr. Kwetey’s statement comes amid the ongoing re-collation exercise for nine disputed constituencies.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has commenced the re-collation of results for these constituencies at its regional office in Accra.
Thus far, the EC has successfully declared results in seven constituencies, all in favor of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). These constituencies are:
Ahafo Ano North
Techiman South
Ahafo Ano South West
Nsawam Adoagyiri
Obuasi East
Okaikwei Central
Tema Central
Kwetey’s remarks indicate that the NDC plans to pursue justice for what it perceives as electoral malpractices, extending their efforts beyond the immediate post-election period.
