From SBAHS to Regional Minister: Dr. Amoakohene’s Path

Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, recently received a plaque from the School of Biomedical and Allied Health Sciences (SBAHS) at the University of Ghana, his beloved alma mater.

This honor was a testament to his remarkable journey, which began in 2011 when he joined SBAHS to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences.

Leadership Roles and Experiences.

During his time at SBAHS, Dr. Amoakohene was actively involved in student leadership, serving as President of the University of Ghana Allied Health Students Association (UGAHSA).

He also briefly led the unified Korle-Bu campus students’ union, showcasing his leadership prowess and dedication to student welfare. Eventually, he became President of the National Allied Health Students Association of Ghana (NAHSAG), further solidifying his reputation as a champion of student advocacy.

Grateful for the Foundation.

Dr. Amoakohene expressed his gratitude for the experiences and opportunities he had at SBAHS, which laid the foundation for his current leadership roles. He acknowledged the fraternity, mentorship, and opportunities provided by the institution, stating, “I remain grateful for the fraternity, mentorship, and opportunities that prepared me for service.”

As a medical professional and youth leader, Dr. Amoakohene brings expertise in healthcare, governance, and public service to his role as Ashanti Regional Minister. According to available information, he holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Ghana, a Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science degree from the University of Development Studies (UDS), and an MBA from Accra Business School .
