Mr. George Akom, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Sekyere Afram Plains, recently interacted with students at Okomfo Anokye Senior High School in Wiamoase, Ashanti Region.
The event was part of the school’s SRC Week Celebration for 2025, themed “Connecting to Your Vision in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: The Way Forward for Students in Senior Secondary Schools.”
During the event, Mr. Akom emphasized the importance of both hard and soft skills in career development, highlighting areas such as self-discipline, creativity, innovation, and realigning visions to meet the changing social-economic environment. He noted that while artificial intelligence (AI) may automate some jobs, it would also create new opportunities and diverse jobs for the upcoming generation.
Mr. Akom stressed that the key to success lies in aligning one’s vision and skills to stay competitive in an AI-driven world. By understanding that AI would create new jobs, substitute others, eliminate some, and redefine many, students can better prepare themselves for the future.
The event also featured an upcoming entrepreneur from the multimedia business, who shared his experiences with the students. Mr. Akom expressed hope and enthusiasm upon meeting the young entrepreneur and other students, including one from Ofe in his constituency.
