Mr. George Akom, NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate for Sekyere Afram Plains Constituency has supported some female pupils selected from various Basic Schools in the district to under go ICT training to enable them acquire basic skills in computing .The training which was organized by Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication ( GIFEC), an agency under the Ministry of Communications and Digitalization was to provide digital inclusiveness as a means to provide knowledge acquisition, access and participation. The training which specifically targeted female pupils was to provide every girl child the opportunity to acquire ICT skills as their male peers to fit into the 4th industrial revolution.
Mr. George Akom who has been focusing on education as a means to transform his Constituency supported some pupils drawn from Junior High Schools to participate in the training. Mr. Akom when visited the trainees at Tweneboa Kodua Senior High School( TKSS) where the training was held commended the organizers of the training for such initiative that provided ICT education for unserved and underserved pupils. He encouraged the pupils from his Constituency to take the opportunity and acquire the needed skills in the field of ICT. He touted the advantages that awaited persons with ICT skills in this 21st Century. He pledged his commitment to provide any support to the Constituents to achieve their life potentials. He added, that he would provide state- of- the -art resource centre in his Constituency to train many people in ICT and entrepreneurship.
Mr. Akom as educationist had provided a lot of educational interventions impacting positively in the Constituency.
Addressing the participants of the program, he emphasized the importance of education in terms of our social – economic development and global advancement.He commended the government and Ministry of Communications and Digitalization for the role they had played in bringing ICT inclusiveness to many people.
Mr. George Akom has championed the role of ICT in national development in diverse ways and by supporting the pupils showed how important ICT education was to him. He emphasized how ICT had made significant improvement in the development of Ghana. He re- iterated the
vision of Alhaji Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia in terms of digitalization of our economy as a game changer for future development.
The pupils were very enthused about their participation in the program. They assured Mr. Akom that they would seriously participate in the program to achieve the needed skills. They commended him for his continuous support to the community, especially in the areas of education and job creation.
The teachers who accompanied the trainees expressed their heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Akom for supporting the pupils to participate in the program. They added that this was not the first time Mr. Akom had extended his support to education in the district, and they see him as someone who has education and the development of his Constituency at heart. They wished him well as Parliamentary Candidate so his vision for the Constituency would come into reality.
