The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has commended the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, for his exceptional leadership in the fight against illegal mining in the Ashanti Region.

Hon. Armah-Kofi Buah made this known during a visit to the Offin Shelter Belt Forest Reserve at Atwima Mponua District last Monday.

The visit was part of the Minister’s ongoing efforts to monitor the government’s crackdown on galamsey operations across the country.

The Lands Minister praised Dr. Amoakohene’s tireless efforts in leading the fight against galamsey in the Ashanti Region, noting that his leadership has been instrumental in combating the menace.

Hon. Armah-Kofi Buah emphasized the importance of regional ministers like Dr. Amoakohene in the fight against galamsey, as they play a crucial role in safeguarding Ghana’s natural resources.

The government’s commitment to eradicating galamsey is evident in its plans to involve chiefs in the mining licensing process and transform community mines into fully community-owned models. These initiatives aim to ensure that local communities take charge of preventing the destruction caused by illegal mining.

As the government continues to tackle the menace of galamsey, the collaboration between Lands Minister Armah-Kofi Buah and Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene serves as a positive example of the collective effort required to protect Ghana’s environment and natural resources.
