The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency in the Ashanti Region,Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has equipped 16 trainees who have completed a 3-month vocational skills training at Inner Culinary Arts Institute with start up tools to start their own business.
Beneficiaries are youth and residents of the constituency.
Their training focused specifically on catering and soap making.
Each beneficiary received an oven, a mixer and a cake stand.
They were distributed to to them during their graduation ceremony held on Friday 19th May 2023.
According to Nana Ama Boakye, an officer at the office of the Member of Parliament, the gesture forms part of the MPs initiative, aimed at empowering residents to carter for themselves and their families as they are equipped with the skills.
Aside the above support, she indicated that the Member of Parliament has given similar support to close to 200 residents who received training in fashion, computer coding, hair dressing, among others.
“First batch of beneficiaries were 150, second 20”, she indicated, adding that Hon Matthew Opoku Prempeh is ever prepared to assist any resident who is ready to learn a vocation.
Addressing the occasion, Hon Matthew Opoku Prempeh said acquiring a vocational skill gives one a higher advantage even more than a university graduate.
He therefore charged the beneficiaries to utilize the knowledge they have received effectively so as to make money for themselves and their family.
