The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a public announcement regarding passport applications made before the introduction of chip-embedded passports on April 28, 2025.
According to the ministry, individuals who paid for passport processing before this date but have not completed their applications are required to take action.

Applicants are advised to contact the Passport Office Client Service Unit on 0302 754 200 for assistance.
Portal for Passport Applications:* The general public is informed that the portal for passport applications is passport.mfa.gov.gh.
“The Ministry counts on the usual cooperation of passport applicants to undertake this important exercise,” the announcement states.
The introduction of chip-embedded passports on April 28, 2025, marked a significant change in Ghana’s passport application process. The old passport application portal, created to host applications before the migration to chip-embedded passports, is currently out of use.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urges affected applicants to contact the Passport Office Client Service Unit for assistance. The ministry appreciates the cooperation of passport applicants in this matter.
