MTN Ghana Foundation has awarded scholarships to 200 beneficiaries as part of its MTN Bright Scholarship programme.

The scholarship presentation took place at the law Faculty of Kwame Nkrumah university of Science and Technology in Kumasi today.

The MTN Bright Scholarship is a flagship initiative by the MTN Ghana Foundation aimed at easing the financial burden on bright but financially challenged students. The scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, provides a semesterly stipend, and a laptop. This year’s cohort notably includes some individuals living with disabilities.

Speaking to the media,Mr. Robert Kuzoe, Senior Manager of the MTN Ghana Foundation, emphasised the Foundation’s dedication to positively impacting lives through education.

According to him, the Foundation received about 1,500 applicants, which were subsequently shortlisted to 400 and finally the two hundred (200) were selected through interviews.

“ I often say at conferences that I believe the next big idea or technology can come from Ghana, but for that to happen, people need to be educated. Sometimes, they lack the financial means, so the more we can support, the more we will.”

“We have former scholarship recipients working within MTN, some at senior levels, which I only recently discovered. It’s exciting to see how this programme has touched lives, with beneficiaries now contributing across various industries in Ghana,” he stated.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to broadcastergh. com expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the support.
