In a celebration of commitment and impact, the North Dayi District hosted its first-ever Best Teachers Awards, honoring outstanding educators who have gone above and beyond in their dedication to shaping young minds. Organized by the District Chief Executive (DCE) Edmund Kudjoh Attah and the District Education Directorate, the event recognized teachers as the bedrock of the district’s educational progress, acknowledging their efforts in transforming lives and fostering hope for a brighter future.

DCE Edmund Kudjoh Attah took the opportunity to spotlight the government’s investment in education under the NPP administration, lauding it as a public good essential to national development. In his address, he highlighted several initiatives aimed at empowering teachers and enhancing student learning experiences. These initiatives, he noted, included regular teacher training, the provision of laptops and tablets for both teachers and students and the introduction of a professional development allowance.

“Our government understands that quality education is foundational to a strong nation, and teachers are at the heart of this vision,” Mr. Attah emphasized. “We are committed to equipping our teachers with the resources they need to excel, and this investment goes beyond the classroom—it’s an investment in our nation’s future.”

With a focus on fostering holistic development, Mr. Attah also urged teachers to make personal hygiene a priority in their teachings, underscoring the importance of healthy habits alongside academic growth. Additionally, he encouraged the District Education Director to collaborate with headteachers in establishing school farms, envisioning these as practical spaces where students can explore agriculture firsthand. “Making agriculture appealing to the younger generation is essential for sustainable livelihoods,” he remarked, “and these school farms can serve as a hands-on introduction to farming, fostering interest and respect for this vital sector.”

Also speaking at the event, the Chief of Anfoega Akloba, Torgbe Odoom Kumato III, underscored the role of teachers as central to community development and nation-building. “Education is the bedrock of progress, and teachers are the ones laying this foundation,” he said. “They invest tirelessly in our young people’s lives and dreams, and it is only right that we honor and motivate them.”

The event honored a total of sixteen exceptional teachers, who were celebrated for their unwavering dedication to the students of North Dayi. Two schools were also awarded for their commitment to academic excellence and community impact, adding to the district’s renewed enthusiasm for educational achievement. The elated teachers voiced their appreciation for the recognition and the district’s commitment to their work, singing, “Come and see what Edmund Kudjoh Attah has done for us!”

One awardee expressed heartfelt gratitude, saying, “This recognition validates our efforts and makes us feel truly appreciated. It’s not just a trophy—it’s motivation to continue working harder for our students and our district.”

The maiden North Dayi Best Teachers Awards marks a significant milestone in the district’s journey toward educational excellence. Through initiatives aimed at supporting and inspiring teachers, North Dayi is charting a path toward a brighter, more prosperous future for all.
