Award-winning journalist and staff of the Multimedia Group, Mr Erastus Asare Donkor, has made a passionate appeal to President John Dramani Mahama to reset the Ashanti regional national security apparatus.
According to Mr. Donkor, the national security apparatus in the Ashanti region is being grossly abused, and it is imperative that drastic measures are taken to restore its integrity.
In a statement shared on his Facebook page yesterday,Mr. Donkor expressed deep concern about the alleged abuse of the national security apparatus in the Ashanti region.
He lamented that the security agencies, which are meant to protect the citizenry and maintain law and order, are being used to promote illegal mining activities.
This, he said, is a clear betrayal of the trust reposed in these agencies and a negation of their constitutional mandate.
The journalist highlighted the devastating impact of illicit mining activities on the environment, economy, and society at large.
He emphasized that these activities not only undermine the rule of law but also deprive the state of revenue and pose serious health and environmental risks to the people.
Mr. Donkor stressed that the national security apparatus should be working to prevent these activities, not facilitate them.
Mr. Donkor’s call for a reset of the Ashanti regional national security apparatus is rooted in his conviction that the current state of affairs is untenable and requires urgent attention.
He believes that a thorough overhaul of the security apparatus is necessary to restore public trust and ensure that the agencies are working in the best interests of the people.
The journalist is urging President John Dramani Mahama to intervene in the matter and take immediate action to address the alleged abuse of the national security apparatus.
Mr. Donkor believes that the President’s intervention can help to restore the integrity of the security agencies and ensure that they are working to promote the welfare and security of the people.
In conclusion, Mr. Donkor’s call for a reset of the Ashanti regional national security apparatus is a timely and necessary intervention.
The alleged abuse of the security agencies is a serious issue that requires urgent attention, and it is imperative that the President takes immediate action to address the situation.
By doing so, the government can help to restore public trust, promote the rule of law, and ensure that the security agencies are working in the best interests of the people.
