Born Akosua Kisiwaa ,baptized Catherine Reckling , District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere South District (Agona District Capital) in the Ashanti region is the most hard working DCE of the year, according to Pan African Heroes Foundation.
The “CONFEDERATION OF GOVERNANCE ASSESSMENT INSTITUTE” [COGAI] in
partnership with the “BUREAU OF RESEARCH ON GOVERNANANCE, COMMERCE
AND ADMINISTRATION” [BORGCA] and the selection committee of the “PAN AFRICAN REPUBLIC HONORARY AWARDS”based on their assessment yesterday Adjuged Hon.Catherine Reckling as the most hardworking DCE of the year under his Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo’s Administration .
She was nominated , invited and congratulated for the prestigious award at the ‘PAN-AFRICAN REPUBLIC HONORARY AWARDS’ at the Accra International Conference Centre as a significant productive contributor to the economy and socio-communal development of Ghana.
Speaking at the event,Mr.Isaac Rockson ,CEO of Pan African Heroes Foundation indicated that her profound dedication, commitment and relentless devotion to be fair, free and firm in balanced decision making to direct control and manage governance affairs have earned her this honour.
According to him,careful considerations on all nominations, background checks and relative research have been diligently conducted to acknowledge all dignitaries in their order of achievements and excellence.
Adding ,Hon.Catherine Reckling’s cumulative tireless efforts coupled with her decision and commitment to
serve Ghana cannot be underestimated.
” Your service and sacrifice have in
diverse ways, directly or indirectly jointly influenced the economy of Ghana and
the welfare of the citizens of Ghana. You are by this invitation, being
acknowledged for your diversity in nation building, and as one of the potential
vital pillars or forerunners in the development of democracy and governance in Ghana and Africa at large.”He noted.
Profile of Hon.Catherine Reckling
Hon.Catherine Reckling started her elementary school at Akrofuso SDA ,from basic three she went to Kumasi and continued her basic education .
She attended her middle school at Oforikrom L/A middle School then.From there she proceeded to Okomfo Anokye Secondary School but left from the boundaries of Sekyere South District at form 2.
She then landed at New Edubiase Secondary School also in the Ashanti region where she had her O’ level certificate from there she went to Saint Louis College of Education.
She belongs to the first batch of three year POSEC.
She was posted to Nsuta-Beposo for her first teaching where she was stationed then to Kumawu L/A middle School.
She taught for five years and them went to Germany where she met her husband lawyer Hans Peter Reckling where she had her name Reckling Mrs.
She studied the German language and became a freelance interpreter at the German court .
She came home in 1976 and got into active politics .
She became an Assembly member and then constituency women organizer from 2000-2017 and that is where she landed as the District Chief Executive fir Sekyere South District.
As an Assembly member she was the chairperson for the committee, development planning sub committee.
She was also the chairperson for the social service sub committee and they had the chair planel of which she was the chair person.
When she became the presiding member around 2008 and NPP was in opposition,she realized it was not prudent for her to become a presiding member with her political party on opposition so she resigned as an Assembly member and embarked on a massive campaign against the then ruling NDC government.
Her campaign brought the NPP back to power in 2017.
Her good work in the NPP recognizes her and she is now the DCE of her area.
Since then she has been burnt on developing her country.
Together with her member of parliament, who’s also a good lobbyist,they have been able to achieve all the projects the district deserves.
They built schools, hospitals,roads, police station and bangalow , portable drinking water , construction of markets, toilets, Clinics,CHP compounds. and many more.
