Information trickling to this portal points to a disturbing situation in the Board Room of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
The Board Chairman, according to a source is livid that the facility’s lawyer, Nana Freduah Agyeman did not oppose an injunction application filed against KATH in a matter involving its current Director of Finance who is known in private life as Elvis Kusi.
The Board Chairman has subsequently called for an emergency meeting on Wednesday at which, our source hints would be used to whip other members in line so they could dispense with the services of its legal Counsel, Lawyer Nana Freduah Agyeman.
Substantive Matter:
The Director of Finance of KATH in the year 2020 took up an action at the High Court challenging a move by KATH to cap the years he could serve as Director of Finance.
In that action in 2020, the court granted an injunction against that move by KATH and the matter was finally settled between the Board Chairman, the plaintiff (Elvis Kusi) and the hospital’s former lawyer including the court, culminating in the subsequent re-engagement of the Director of Finance.
But in May 2024, notwithstanding the judgment of the Court as signed by the Board Chairman and Former Lawyer of the Hospital, the Board Chairman again gave an instruction for the position of the Director of Finance to be advertised contrary to the judgment.
The Director of Finance therefore sued again and filed for an injunction to restrain the hospital.
However, even before the case was heard, the Board instructed that his position should be advertised contrary to an advice by management and the facility’s lawyer.

The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in 2023 advertised the position of company’s lawyer in the dailies as prescribed by the Facility’s statutes.
Lawyer Nana Freduah Agyeman who also put in a bid was eventually interviewed and appointed to serve in the advertised capacity.
However, immediately after taking over, he was faced with the case in which KATH’s Director of Finance is in court challenging the way the hospital was trying to cap the years he could serve in his current position.
This, the Director feels was contrary to terms of his earlier engagement and has sued the facility for breach of agreement.
But since the Board was bent on axing him, it planned on advertising his position to the public including the attempt to invite bids from others.
The Director seeing this move, decided to fight the matter by filing an injunction to restrain anyone from doing so until the substantive matter was dealt with.
Court Ruling:
The court, subsequently ruled in favour of the Director of Finance on the injunction application and granted same.
Meanwhile hearing of the substantive case before the court is yet to commence.
Plot and Machinations:
At the grant of the injunction application, the Board Chairman is making the case that its lawyer did not represent KATH well in the matter forgetting that KATH through the same Board Chairman were the very people that signed the terms of settlement culminating in the grant of consent judgment by the court making any such decisions contemptuous of the court.
He argues that no application was filed in oppostion to the process by the Director of Finance.
To cover whatever shame he has, the Chairman has thus called for Wednesday’s meeting which he termed as “emergency” to argue for the dismissal of Lawyer Nana Freduah Agyeman as the facility’s lawyer.
This is despite protestations from other members that such is a needless gathering since the substantive matter was yet to be heard.
Real Intent:
However, sources close to this portal hints that ever since one Kwame Adofo, former Legal Counsel for KATH was relieved of his position the Board Chairman has still not gotten over the issue and has since showed dislike for Lawyer Nana Freduah Agyeman.
The source said the Board Chairman had been dealing with the said Adofo behind the scenes including sharing with him confidential information.
Latest Expose:
The latest expose, our source hints is that after the court injunction was granted to the Director of Finance, the Board Chairman through an assign of Adofo was used to procure the court ruling for his perusal without recourse to the Facility’s Lawyer undermining the Lawyer and clearly portraying the malice attached to his demand for the meeting.
This, perhaps, gives more credence to the many speculations that the information Lawyer Adofo was speaking to on social media especially on Facebook regarding board room classified matters and confidential issues denigrating the image of the hospital and frustrating Otumfuo’s ‘Heal Komfo Anokye Project’ were fed him by the Board Chairman.
Meanwhile, the High Court has placed an injunction on Lawyer Kwame Adofo for delving into anything concerning the hospital and its operations.
However, despite this, the Board Chairman is alleged to be dealing with the former KATH employee at the backside of the hospital, an unfortunate occurrence.
