SSNIT: Here Are All The Qualifications & Benefits Available To Contributors Before & After Old Age

Under the SSNIT Pension scheme, members can enjoy the following benefits depending on which contingency has occurred.

1.

Superannuation Pension or Old age Pension

2. Invalidity Pension

3. Survivor’s Lump sum.

4. Emigration benefit

5. Old age Lump sum

Under Superannuation Pension or Old age Pension; a contributor will enjoy:

a) Full Pension under Act 766

Qualifying conditions:

• You must be 60 years

• You must have made a minimum contribution of 180 months in aggregation.

Under Superannuation Pension or Old age Pension; a contributor will enjoy:

a) Full Pension under Act 766

Qualifying conditions:

• You must be 60 years

• You must have made a minimum contribution of 180 months in aggregation.

b) Reduced Pension under Act 766

Qualifying conditions:

• You must be between the ages of 55 and 59 years 11 months and

• You must have made a minimum contribution of 180 months in aggregation

Invalidity Pension is a monthly benefit paid to a member of the Scheme who can no longer work due to a disease, an illness or a disablement of a permanent nature.

To qualify for Invalidity Pension;

•You must have made a minimum of 12 months in aggregate within the last 36 months with the date of termination of appointment due to your invalidity as the reference point.

•You must have been declared permanently invalid and incapable of any normal gainful employment:

•By a qualified and recognized medical officer and Certified by a Regional Medical Board on which a SSNIT Medical Officer is represented.

The Survivor’s Lump Sum is paid to dependants of members under the following:

When a member dies before retirement or when a pensioner dies before age 75

For foreigners who have contributed to the scheme and are emigrating permanently with proof of permanent relocation can apply for emigration benefit which shall be processed and paid.

SSNIT also gives Lumpsum Benefits to contributors who could not make the 180 months. Please note also that, regardless of which ever benefit you are processing, once you put in your claim, request for your Acknowledgement Letter.
