The first Vice Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress in the Ashanti Region, Captain John Kwame Jabari (retired) has said Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will face the workings of other aspirants in the flagbearership race of the New Patriotic Party to stifle his chances of being elected flagbearer of the ruling party.

The retired military officer in an interview on Ultimate Fm in Kumasi claimed ,Dr Bawumia’s contenders in the flagbearership race are disgruntled over several issues and will therefore gang up against the Vice President

According to him, the likes of former Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kyerenemmante are unhappy with how they are being treated in government as the NPP is preparing to hold the presidential primaries. He cited an incident in the Assin North Constituency where Mr Kyeremanten was compelled to halt his address at a rally when the Vice President was being ushered to the grounds.

“The other aspirants are ganging up against Bawumia, I know that a coalition is forming against Bawumia, they are all monitoring if there happens to be a runoff, they will all support Alan or Ken than Bawumia because they are all seeing how they are being treated even in Assin North when Bawumia was rushed to the stage when Alan was speaking,” he said.

Captain Jabari (retired) indicated such an incident was a manifestation of some ill-treatment being meted out to Dr Bawumia’s contenders which will eventually give birth to a force in the event of a run-off
