Tamale: Shop owners at Ababoa calls for intervention over destruction of shops

Shop owners at the Ababoa market in the Tamale metropolis have registered their displeasure over the demolishing of their shops.

The angry traders who spoke to the media after the demolishing said the shops were destroyed midnight under the protection of a joint security personnel without any prior notice.

According to them, the place has been sold illegally to a private developer by some city authorities.

One of the victims, Alhassan Abu indicated that their goods worth thousand Ghana cedis were lost in the destruction.

“We were not told about the demolishing, just one night they brought military and pulldown the structures here, thief’s took advantage of that and runaway with most of our goods before we arrived”.

He therefore called on traditional rulers and other relevant authorities in the region to assist them regain the catchment area back.
