The Ahanta Development Network Global, in partnership with Ahantaman Community UK and Ireland, is set to launch the maiden edition of the Ahanta Heritage Day Festival of Culture, Music and Durbar of Chiefs, dubbed Ahantafest UK 2026.

The historic event, which will be held under the auspices of His Royal Highness Nana Kwesi Quayson I, Atwimanhene of the Ahanta Traditional Area and the Diaspora, is scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 2026, at Oasis Academy, Croydon, London CR9 7AL, United Kingdom. The programme is expected to commence at 6:00 p.m. promptly.

The festival seeks to bring together members of the Ahanta community, traditional rulers, government officials and other distinguished guests to celebrate and promote the rich cultural heritage of the Ahanta people.

It also forms part of efforts to preserve, promote and project Ahanta’s cultural identity while strengthening the bonds between Ahanta people living in Ghana and those in the diaspora.

A major highlight of the celebration will be a live musical performance by renowned Ghanaian musician Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, whose performance is expected to add excitement and entertainment to the cultural gathering.

The event is expected to attract several prominent personalities, including His Majesty Obrempon Hima Dakyi, Paramount Chief of the Upper Dixcove Traditional Area, Hon Maxwell Boakye, Council of State Member for the Western Region, Hon Joseph Nelson, Western Regional Minister, Hon Mavis Kukua Bissue, Member of Parliament for Ahanta West, Hon Fifi Buckman, Member of Parliament for Effia-Kwesimintsim and Hon Eng. Ebenezer Aidoo, Ahanta West Municipal Chief Executive.

Beyond the musical performances, the festival will feature a colourful durbar of chiefs and traditional leaders, providing an important platform to showcase Ahanta customs, traditions, music and cultural practices.

The maiden edition of Ahantafest UK 2026 is expected to serve as a significant cultural platform for reconnecting the Ahanta people across geographical boundaries, particularly the younger generation in the diaspora, with their ancestral roots.

Organisers have called on the Ahanta community, Ghanaians in the United Kingdom and Ireland, as well as friends of Ghanaian culture to participate in the celebration and make the maiden edition a memorable occasion.

The festival is expected to reinforce the importance of cultural preservation, unity and collective identity while projecting Ahanta’s rich heritage onto the international stage.
