The Second Vice Chairman for Suame Constituency of New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr Richard Asante, says Ghanaians who disagree with the appointment of Dr Peter Appiahene, to the Electoral Commission (EC) should go to court.
The courts, he said, have the jurisdiction to decide such cases if their suit has legal merits.
Speaking to the media, Mr Asante, described executives of the NDC and civil organization groups, who are calling for his resignation as hypocrites.
According to him, same allegations were made when Madam Charlotte Osei was appointed as the Chairperson of the commission but the party adamantly failed to heed to such calls.
The Vice Chairman disclosed that he taught with Dr Appiahene in the same senior high school and could classify him as a man of principle.
He said Dr Appiahene is a sincere person who doesn’t lie under the disguise of politics and will never kowtow to the dictates of any political party.
Mr Asante said Dr Appiahene as a person can not influence any electoral results therefore urged the NDC to remember that elections are won at polling stations and not in the office of the commission.
