The family of late investigative journalist, Ahmed Suale, says they have doubts Suale will get justice should Kennedy Agyapong be elected president.

Kennedy Agyapong is one of the 10 candidates contesting the flag bearer slot of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) towards election 2024.

In recent separate television interviews as part of Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign towards the presidential primary, the issue of Suale came up in relation to Kennedy’s alleged role in the death of the journalist.

The family has continuously insisted that the publication of Suale’s photograph by Mr Agyapong and his call for any member of the public to beat him anytime they came across him exposed the journalist and led to his killing.

Reacting to Kennedy’s responses in a press statement, the family said Mr Agyapong has continuously not showed remorse anytime Suale’s issue comes up for discussion.

“By his lack of remorse and the frantic defence of his conduct, the family is doubtful that Ahmed would ever get justice under a misfortune where Kennedy Agyapong becomes the president of Ghana,” the family said in a press statement dated August 16, 2023 and signed by Ibrahim Kamilu Tahidu.

The family added, “We are also disappointed that, to date, the Police has not made any progress on the matter. At minimum, we expect the Police to look into the crime of aiding and abetting, and threats of harm where there is plentiful of evidence, all of which was reported to them on a couple of occasions by Ahmed Suale.”

Ahmed-Hussein Suale was shot multiple times by unidentified men on a motorbike on January 16, 2019 while he was driving at Madina in Accra.
