Mr. George Akom, NPP’S Parliamentary Candidate Aspirant has donated items and undisclosed amount as his support towards the ongoing limited voters registration exercise by the Electoral Commission of Ghana to Sekyere Afram Plains Constituency NPP. Receiving the items on behalf of the Party, the Ashanti Regional Representative for Registration Monitoring, Mr. Abagna who was the Former NPP Ashanti Region Financial Secretary, thanked Mr. Akom for his support towards the exercise. He used his remarks to call for unity during and after the Constituency’s Parliamentary elections to enable the party wins the seat for the first time.
Mr. George Akom who has been one of the recognized personalities in Sekyere Afram Plains District of the Ashanti region has made a lot of contributions towards the development of the district in diverse ways. He visited the Constituency to monitor the ongoing limited registration exercise in the Constituency and donated items including water and soft drinks to the NPP Constituency Executives to support the exercise. What made his donation unique was the fact that he also made donation to the Electoral Commission to support the registration officials.
During his interaction with Constituency Executives, Polling Station Executives and Party Supporters present, he encouraged them to dedicate themselves to support the registration exercise so to register many elegible voters. He indicated to the Constituency Officers that, the registration exercise had met a lot of challenges, but they should consider those challenges which affect all political parties and work within that constraints. He took the opportunity to discuss with the Returning Officer of the Constituency about issues affecting the the registration. Mr. Akom indicated,that the Registration Officials should follow the registration processes deligently to make it more transparent for all stakeholders and to the maximum satisfaction by all Parties.
He later interacted with new registrants and advised them to provide the right information for registration so they exercise their franchise truly. The people gathered cheered Mr. Akom up for the show of good leadership, love and commitment towards the development of the Sekyere Afram Plains District with the district capital at Drobonso.
