Members of the Combined Kumasi Central Market Traders Association are crying for H.E John Dramani Mahama, Former President of the republic and yet to be President of Ghana to come quickly and complete the phase two of the abandoned central market project.

They have , however, expressed disappointment in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for abandoning the Kumasi Central Market redevelopment project in the Ashanti region.

The traders say the NPP has shown no willingness to complete the project for them to return to their business for some years now they were relocated to the less patronized racecourse market to lose their capital.

The aggrieved traders who have sworn to vote against not only the NPP government but also their Members of Parliament in the region say they have no hope in the government to complete the project situated in their much-touted strongest hold, taking into consideration what the government has exhibited.

Addressing a press conference yesterday in Kumasi, its Secretary, Emelia Kwofie Asare Abetia, appealed to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to intervene as he did for the renovation of the KATH through the “Heal Komfo Anokye” project to assist in generating revenue to complete the market.

The traders who expressed optimism in the Asantehene’s ability to organize fundraising to complete the project expressed appreciation to the former President and Flagbearer of the NDC, John Mahama, for completing the Kejetia market before leaving power.

They, therefore, appealed to John Mahama and the Leader of the Movement for Change, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng, to come to their aid in contributing to the completion of the project when Asantehene intervened to raise funds to complete the project.
