Yesterday, a group of gun-wielding NPP thugs stormed the Moro forest in Sankore in the Asunafo South Constituency to attack forest guards going about their lawful duties of protecting the forest from illegal activities.
These marauding thugs stormed the Moro forest yesterday with the intention to scare foresters away by shooting indiscriminately at guards on duty.
The forest guards sensing danger also returned fire in what can best be described as act in self defence and In the ensuing exchange of fire,one notorious criminal in the Sankore area by name Emmanuel Mensah alias smoke,was shot in the neck and is currently receiving treatment at the Goaso Government Hospital.
These gun-wielding bandits having been overpowered by the foresters turned their angst on the residents of sankore.They were Seen running riot in the Sankore township wielding Guns,machetes and cudgels.
So far,they have succeeded in burning several motor bikes belonging to forest guards in the Sefwi Wiawso District and have also stormed Sefwi Boako in the Western North Region to destroy the house of one of the forest guards on duty yesterday.
We urge the Ghana Police Service to act expediently to bring these criminals to book as well as protect lives and properties in the Asunafo South District.
