The African Electoral Institute applauds the Independent National Electoral Commission of Nigeria (INEC) for promptly addressing concerns over discrepancies in polling unit result sheets during the Edo State Governorship Election when INEC received complaints of incorrect figures from only two (2) out of four thousand, five hundred and nineteen (4,519) polling units used in Saturday’s election and has swiftly taken action.

The African Electoral Institute is pleased that
INEC is leaving no stone unturned to investigate and rectify any irregularities, demonstrating its commitment to transparency and fairness.

The African Electoral Institute also applauds the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) demand for *the arrest and prosecution of a presiding officer accused of allocating non-existent votes* to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a civil and procedural act and did not resort to violence.
The African Electoral Institute underscores this action as highlights of transparency and accountability in Nigeria’s electoral process in Edo State Governorship Election.

The African Electoral Institute reiterates that INEC’s swift response is crucial in maintaining public trust in the electoral process and maintaining transparency and accountability.
