The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Ofori-Agyeman, joined the Muslim community at T.I. Ahmadiyya SHS on Friday, 6th June 2025 to celebrate this year’s Eid-ul-Adha.
Speaking on behalf of President H.E. John Dramani Mahama, the Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene, and the people of Kumasi, the Mayor emphasized the importance of the festival — a time for sacrifice, love, and obedience to Allah, inspired by Prophet Ibrahim’s faith.
He highlighted the President’s efforts to support the Muslim community, including:
Reducing Hajj costs to make the pilgrimage more affordable.
Building a new Hajj facility to support pilgrims.
Training Muslim nurses and midwives to serve the unique needs of Islamic patients.
Improving Islamic schools and hospitals, with plans already in motion to build a new assembly hall for an Islamic school in Kumasi.
The Mayor also encouraged Muslims to reflect the values of the festival — selflessness, kindness, and unity — in their daily lives.
He advised the youth to be disciplined, avoid reckless riding, and obey the law, stressing that no one will be spared for unlawful acts.
He concluded by reminding all Ghanaians, regardless of religion, to be law-abiding and responsible citizens to help move the nation forward.
