The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Mponua in the Ashanti Region, Ibrahim Issahak, has commended residents of Anansu for demonstrating a strong commitment to sanitation and community development.
The DCE made the commendation when he joined residents of Anansu yesterday to support a community clean-up exercise organised by the community leadership under the leadership
of the Assembly Member, Hon. David Salifu.
The exercise brought together residents, community leaders and volunteers who took time off their usual activities to clean up public spaces and improve the general sanitary conditions of the community.
Mr. Issahak said the level of participation demonstrated by residents was encouraging and reflected their understanding of the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
He commended Hon. David Salifu, the community leadership and residents for taking the initiative to address sanitation challenges within Anansu, stressing that sustainable sanitation could not be achieved through the efforts of the District Assembly alone.
As part of his support for the exercise, the DCE provided water, drinks, eggs and other refreshments for the residents and volunteers who participated in the clean-up.
He said the gesture was intended to support and motivate the hardworking residents who had demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility towards the development and wellbeing of their community.
Mr. Issahak urged residents to make community-led sanitation activities a regular practice rather than limiting them to occasional exercises.
He noted that keeping communities clean was a shared responsibility and called on individuals, households, community leaders and other stakeholders to play their respective roles in maintaining proper sanitation.
According to him, active participation by residents would complement the efforts of the District Assembly and contribute significantly to improving public health and the overall quality of life in the district.
The DCE further encouraged other communities across the Atwima Mponua District to emulate the example set by Anansu by organising regular community clean-up exercises and taking ownership of sanitation in their respective areas.
He said a clean environment was essential for the health, safety and development of residents and expressed the hope that the initiative would inspire similar activities in other communities.
Mr. Issahak reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to working with traditional authorities, community leaders, Assembly Members and residents to promote improved sanitation across the district.
He said the collective efforts of residents and the Assembly would help create cleaner, healthier and more attractive communities in Atwima Mponua.
“Together, we can keep Atwima Mponua clean, healthy and beautiful,” he stated.
The exercise ended with a renewed call for residents to sustain the momentum and make cleanliness an integral part of community life.
