Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Her Excellency Sabah Zita Benson, has paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, Esq., as part of efforts to strengthen institutional collaboration between Ghana’s gold sector and the country’s diplomatic mission in the UK.
The engagement provided an opportunity for the two officials to exchange views on issues of mutual interest and explore areas where the High Commission and GoldBod could work together to advance Ghana’s interests.
The meeting, according to information from the engagement, focused particularly on strengthening cooperation between the two institutions and supporting efforts aimed at promoting Ghana’s gold sector internationally.
The discussions also underscored the importance of strategic partnerships in enhancing Ghana’s position within the international gold industry, while creating opportunities for stronger economic and diplomatic relations between Ghana and the United Kingdom.
Madam Benson and Mr. Gyamfi reaffirmed their commitment to working together to promote Ghana’s interests and deepen bilateral ties between the two countries.
The collaboration is expected to provide an avenue for greater engagement with stakeholders in the United Kingdom, particularly in areas connected to Ghana’s gold industry, investment and international trade.
Ghana remains one of Africa’s leading gold-producing countries, making the gold sector an important contributor to the country’s economy. GoldBod, as the state institution responsible for key aspects of Ghana’s gold trading and related activities, plays a central role in the government’s efforts to strengthen the sector.
The meeting with the High Commissioner therefore comes at a time when Ghana continues to pursue measures to maximise the benefits of its gold resources and strengthen the country’s participation in the international gold market.
For the Ghana High Commission in the UK, closer engagement with GoldBod could also provide an important platform for promoting Ghana’s economic interests and facilitating constructive relationships with relevant institutions and stakeholders in the United Kingdom.
The two officials further discussed areas of mutual interest and agreed on the need for sustained cooperation to support Ghana’s broader national objectives.
