Hon Samuel Atta Mills – KEEA MP together with Lawyer Edudzi Tameklo – NDC Director of Legal Affairs and Aquinas Hanson – Chaiman of KEEA communication bureau have donated building materials for the renovation of a mosque at Ankaful Annex Prisons .
According to them, renovating a mosque for inmates serve several important purposes.
They were of the view that the facility provides a space for spiritual growth and reflection, which is crucial for rehabilitation. Access to religious practices can help inmates find peace, purpose, and a sense of belonging , promoting emotional well-being.
Again , renovating a mosque can foster a positive environment that encourages inmates to engage in constructive activities, such as prayer, study, and service. This can lead to a greater understanding of their faith and a stronger moral framework, which is beneficial for their reintegration into society upon release.
Moreover, having a dedicated space for worship can improve the atmosphere within the correctional facility, promoting respect and tolerance among inmates. It can also serve as a symbol of hope and renewal, reinforcing the idea that change is possible and a must and , that inmates can aspire to lead more fulfilling lives.
