Barimah Osei Hwedie II, Chief of Ejura Traditional Council, emphasized the importance of stakeholder collaboration for a peaceful election.

Speaking at the festival on Friday, November 8, 2024, he highlighted efforts to boost security, including the new Divisional Police Headquarters and Military Barracks.

“The increased police presence has stemmed peace,” he noted, urging his subjects to be law-abiding.

Queen Mother Nana Akua Tiwaa II also advocated for democratic conduct, stressing the traditional council’s commitment to development through unity.

“Ejura’s growth requires a collective effort from all stakeholders,” she emphasized.

The festival served as a platform for promoting peace and unity ahead of the
elections.

Somber Celebration

Ejurahene Barimah Osei Hwedie II marked this year’s Sekeyerene Festival with a somber tone as the traditional council prepares to bid farewell to their beloved Ex-Queen Mother, Nana Akosua Akyamaa.

The usually vibrant celebration was subdued, with only the most essential rituals performed due to the impending funeral .

The Ejurahene explained that the traditional council intentionally set aside most of the festival’s festivities to show respect and pay tribute to their late queen mother.

This decision reflects the deep reverence and admiration the community holds for Nana Akosua Akyamaa.

In previous years, the Sekeyerene Festival has been a joyful celebration, showcasing the community’s rich cultural heritage through traditional music, dance, and art.

However, this year’s solemn atmosphere demonstrates the community’s commitment to honoring their departed leader.
