The Queen Mothers of various markets in Kumasi have pledged their unwavering support to Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, to succeed in his duties.

This pledge was made during their engagement with the Minister at the Regional Coordinating Council, where they discussed pressing issues affecting traders in the city.

Madam Yaa Foriwaah, Queen Mother of Yam sellers, cautioned the Minister to be vigilant and strong in the face of challenges, particularly from perceived associations at the markets. She urged him not to allow anyone to overshadow him in performing his responsibilities.

Madam Foriwaah also expressed concerns about the high electricity bills affecting traders at Kejetia, especially those with table-top businesses. She requested individual meters from the Electricity Company of Ghana, emphasizing that they would not accept meters from any other company or individual.

The Queen Mothers tasked the Minister with ensuring the completion of the second phase of the Central Market and the Krofrom Market, as well as tarring the road leading to Racecourse to decongest the Central Business District of Kumasi. They also expressed concerns about the mismanagement of the New Kejetia Market and called for a full overhaul of the management.

Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, expressed gratitude to the Market Queens for their support and readiness to contribute to the development of the region. He promised to meet with contractors working on the Krofrom Market to ensure its completion and urged the Queen Mothers to consult him regularly to ensure effective collaboration for the region’s development.
