Ghana’s Health Minister, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has revealed that the government requires an additional over GHC100 million to complete the Agenda 111 hospital project in Trede in the Ashanti Region. The facility, which was hastily commissioned by the previous administration on December 5, 2024, remains incomplete, with only the basic structure in place.
Minister Akandoh expressed disappointment during his visit to the site, accompanied by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, and Road Minister, Governs Kwame Agboza. Despite the challenges, the minister assured that the government is committed to completing the project and recruiting staff to operationalize the hospital.
The Agenda 111 project, initiated by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, aims to construct 111 hospitals across Ghana, including district, specialized, and regional hospitals .
While the project’s vision is commendable, the current state of the Trede hospital highlights the need for careful planning and execution to ensure that these critical healthcare facilities are completed and fully functional.
As the government works to secure the necessary funding to complete the Trede hospital, citizens eagerly await the completion of this vital project, which promises to improve healthcare services in the region.
