International Women’s Day: Hon Joana Gyan Joins Global Call for Women’s Empowerment

International Women’s Day was marked with great fanfare at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra yesterday , where Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, was part of a distinguished panel for the 2025 Women’s Dialogue. The event, themed ‘Resetting the Agenda for Women: Accelerating Action on Women’s Rights, Equity, and Empowerment,’ brought together a diverse group of individuals, including diplomats, ambassadors, members of parliament, entrepreneurs, and chief executive officers.

Mrs. Gyan Cudjoe expressed her sincere appreciation to Her Prof Excellency, Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, and the organizers of the event.

She shared the stage with incredible panelists, including Nana Gyentsi Amoako, Queen Boresah Fantevie, Peggy Ama Donkor, and Dr. Latifatu Mohammed.

The discussion focused on two key areas: helping women participate in governance and helping women leaders make a difference. Mrs. Gyan Cudjoe emphasized the importance of creating an enabling environment that encourages women to take on leadership roles and participate in decision-making processes.

She also highlighted the need for mentorship programs, networking opportunities, and access to funding and resources to support women’s leadership development.

The event showcased Ghana’s rich cultural heritage, with a vibrant display of traditional music, dance, and attire. Notably, the Minister of Women and Children’s Affairs, Honourable Agnes Momo, the Deputy Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Honourable Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, and Kate Quartey-Papafio were in attendance.

As a member of parliament, Mrs. Gyan Cudjoe has been a strong advocate for women’s empowerment and participation in governance. Her commitment to creating a more just and equitable society where women and girls can thrive is evident in her work .

The 2025 Women’s Dialogue was a resounding success, with a clear call to action for women’s empowerment. As Mrs. Gyan Cudjoe aptly put it, “Together, we can create a more just and equitable society where women and girls can thrive.”
