Pure FM Studio in Kumasi Ravaged by Devastating Fire

A devastating fire broke out at Pure FM, a popular local radio station in Kumasi, Ghana, on the evening of Wednesday, July 23, 2025, completely reducing the studio to ashes.

The blaze occurred during a live broadcast at the station’s Patasi premises ¹ ² ³.

Thankfully, no injuries or fatalities were reported, but the fire destroyed significant parts of, including valuable broadcasting equipment and infrastructure.

According to Kwame Adinkrah, a Morning Show host at Pure FM, the station’s team battled the flames for over three intense hours. “We’re completely exhausted… Thankfully, we managed to save the building, but we lost all our studio equipment. We’ll be off air temporarily, but we shall rise again,” he tweeted .

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, with preliminary reports suggesting an electrical fault might be to blame.

This incident eerily mirrors a similar fire that gutted another Kumasi-based radio station, Silver FM, in March 2023 .

Pure FM, a subsidiary of the Angel Broadcasting Network, is known for its vibrant programming and has a loyal following in Kumasi and beyond.

Listeners and supporters are pouring in messages of solidarity, urging the station to bounce back stronger .
