Ashanti Regional Council Imposes Restrictions After Chief’s Fatal Shooting

The Ashanti Regional Co-ordinating Council led by Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional Minister has expressed deep condolences to the family of the late Alhaji Abdul-Malik Azenbge, Chief of Kusaase, following his fatal shooting in Asewase on July 22, 2025.

In response to the incident, the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) convened an emergency meeting on July 24, 2025.

REGSEC has imposed several restrictions to ensure peace and safety in the region:

– Motorbike Ban After 7 PM: No motorbikes allowed on roads after 7 PM until further notice.

– Licensed Motorbikes Only: Use of unlicensed motorbikes or those without lights is strictly prohibited.

– Inter-Tribal Football Suspended: Ongoing inter-tribal football competition is suspended with immediate effect.

– No Smocks for Motorbike Riders: Motorbike riders cannot wear smocks to prevent concealing weapons.

REGSEC assures the public of the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order.

Increased security presence involving police and military will be in hotspot areas to protect lives and property. The council urges the public to support ongoing investigations and provide credible information to help apprehend those responsible .
