The former Minister for Education, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum, has emphasized the importance of education in breaking the cycle of poverty.
Speaking at a ceremony organized by the chief and people of Sekyere Kontonkyi in the Sekyere Kumawu District of Ashanti, Dr. Adutwum stressed that education is a vital tool that can help individuals lift their entire families out of abject poverty .
The event was held to support Sekyere Kusi Senior High Technical School in its efforts to develop more infrastructure.
Dr. Adutwum, who is also the MP for Bosomtwe, pledged to use his position as Vice Chairman of the Education Committee in Parliament to support the school .
The MP for Kumawu, Ernest Yaw Anim, praised Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum for his role in securing government support for Sekyere Kusi Senior High-Technical School. Anim urged the people of Sekyere Kontonkyi to help make the school attractive .
Nana Obremong Nkrumah Agyei II, the headmaster of Sekyere Kusi Senior High Technical School, appealed to the indigenes to enroll their children in the school.
Dr. Paul Appiah Konadu, the Board Chairman of the school, also called on the natives of Sekyere Kontonkyi to support the school with their resources .
