The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has announced a metrowide clean-up exercise scheduled for Sunday, September 7, 2025, starting at 6 a.m.
The exercise is part of preparations for the funeral of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Unit of KMA, the clean-up aims to ensure that the city of Kumasi is spotless to honor the late Queenmother and make it presentable for visitors who will be mourning with the Asanteman.
The KMA has called upon all Volunteer Groups, the Ashanti Youth Association, Kumasi Youth Association, and other youth groups to participate in the exercise. Additionally, Assembly Members in specified electoral areas have been directed to ensure their areas take part in the clean-up.
Residents of Kumasi are also urged to participate in large numbers to honor the late Queenmother. The specified electoral areas include Ash-Town, Dichemso, Amakom, Asafo, Adum, Nhyiaeso, Dr. Mensah, Mmrom, K.O Odumasi, Alabar, Manhyia Extension, Bantama, Cultural Centre, and Waec Drain (Akwatia Line).
The clean-up exercise is expected to contribute to maintaining the dignity and cleanliness of Kumasi during the funeral proceedings of the late Asantehemaa.
