In a significant display of international solidarity and support for local agriculture, PIWAK Natural Health, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government of Ghana, have donated thousands of bags of Ghanaian-grown rice to Cuba, Jamaica, and Sudan.

The donation, made on November 7, 2025, is part of Ghana’s broader effort to provide humanitarian aid to countries facing crises, while also promoting the country’s agricultural sector.

The Chief Executive Officer of PIWAK Natural Health, Dr. Prince Nelson Mototi, expressed his organization’s joy in being able to contribute to the government’s initiative, highlighting the use of locally produced rice as a testament to Ghana’s capability to produce quality food products. “It’s rather Ghanaian-grown rice that’s been made available as the government of Ghana extends aid to the good people of Cuba, Jamaica, and Sudan,” Dr. Mototi said.

During the donation ceremony, Dr. Mototi commended the Government of Ghana for promoting Made-in-Ghana agricultural products and called for increased support to local farmers. He emphasized that with more attention and backing, Ghanaian farmers could significantly boost production, meeting both local and international demand. “There’s a lot we can do as a country when it comes to Made-in-Ghana goods,” he noted.

President John Dramani Mahama, who oversaw the donation, reiterated Ghana’s commitment to solidarity with nations facing hardship. The relief items, valued at GH¢10 million, include Ghana rice, cocoa products, mattresses, and other essential supplies, with 50% allocated to Jamaica, 30% to Cuba, and 20% to the International Red Cross for Sudan .

The donation comes in response to Hurricane Melissa’s devastating impact on Jamaica and Cuba, and the ongoing conflict in Sudan, which has led to significant humanitarian crises in these countries. Ghana’s contribution aims to provide relief and demonstrate the country’s stance on international cooperation and support for nations in need.
