The Deputy Minister for Energy, Honourable Richard Gyan Mensah, has announced that the Anwomaso Power Plant in the Ashanti Region will add 140 megawatts to Ghana’s national energy supply when completed.

He made this known during a working visit to the Anwomaso Power Plant in Kumasi, where he inspected ongoing works on the power project.
According to the Deputy Minister, the visit formed part of government efforts to monitor the progress of the 140-megawatt project, out of which 120 megawatts are expected to be completed within the year expressing satisfaction with the pace of work and assured the public of the government’s commitment to strengthening power generation in the country.
Honourable Richard Gyan Mensah further disclosed that the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) has assured the Ministry that 40 megawatts of the project will be completed today, December 23, 2025 noting that this development will significantly improve power stability, particularly in Kumasi and surrounding communities.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that the government is putting in every effort to ensure adequate and reliable power supply nationwide urging residents to cooperate with power outage schedules, explaining that the temporary interruptions are necessary to allow engineers to complete ongoing works efficiently.
He assured the public that once the project is fully completed, it will help reduce power fluctuations and support industrial and economic activities in the Ashanti Region and beyond.
