Professor Lord Mensah, Head of the Office of the Local Government Service (OLGS), has paid a high-level courtesy call on the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, at the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) in Kumasi, ahead of the Performance Contract Summit scheduled for all regions.
The visit formed part of preparatory engagements leading to the summit and underscored the commitment of both institutions to strengthening Ghana’s local governance architecture through improved coordination, accountability, and results-oriented public service delivery.
Discussions between the two leaders focused on enhancing collaboration across Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), deepening decentralisation, and reinforcing performance management systems to ensure that public institutions deliver measurable outcomes that directly improve the quality of life of citizens.
Professor Lord Mensah highlighted the importance of the Performance Contract Summit as a critical platform for aligning regional and local government priorities with national development goals.
He stressed that effective decentralisation must be supported by strong performance monitoring frameworks, clear accountability structures, and a shared commitment to excellence at all levels of governance.
According to him, the Office of the Local Government Service remains focused on empowering local authorities to deliver efficiently, transparently, and responsively, noting that regional leadership plays a pivotal role in translating policy into tangible development outcomes at the grassroots.
In his remarks, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, commended Professor Mensah for his exemplary leadership and unwavering dedication to strengthening Ghana’s decentralised governance system.
He praised the OLGS for its sustained efforts in promoting performance-based management and fostering a culture of accountability within public institutions.
Dr. Amoakohene reaffirmed the Ashanti Region’s readiness to fully support the objectives of the Performance Contract Summit, emphasizing that effective governance, administrative efficiency, and improved service delivery remain top priorities for the region.
