The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, has announced that the primary objective of the Ashanti Expo 2026 is to attract both local and international investors to the region, positioning Ashanti as a competitive hub for business, trade and industrial growth.

Dr Amoakohene made this known on Monday at the official launch of Ashanti Expo 2026 held at the Golden Bean Hotel in Kumasi.

The well-attended event brought together government officials, traditional leaders, captains of industry, entrepreneurs, development partners and members of the media.

According to the Regional Minister, Ashanti Expo 2026 is envisioned as a strategic platform to showcase the vast economic potential of the Ashanti Region, including opportunities in agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, technology, creative arts and small- and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs).

“The main focus of Ashanti Expo 2026 is to attract investors who are ready to partner with us to unlock the full economic potential of the Ashanti Region,” Dr Amoakohene stated. “Ashanti is rich in natural resources, human capital and cultural heritage.

What we need is sustained investment to transform these assets into jobs, industries and prosperity for our people.”
He emphasized that the expo would serve as a meeting point between investors and local businesses, offering opportunities for networking, partnerships, technology transfer and market expansion.

Dr Amoakohene added that the Regional Coordinating Council, in collaboration with key stakeholders, is committed to creating an enabling environment that supports business growth and investment security.

Dr Amoakohene further noted that Ashanti Expo 2026 aligns with the government’s broader agenda of promoting industrialization, export-led growth and private sector development. He explained that by attracting investors into value addition and manufacturing, the region could significantly reduce unemployment, especially among the youth, while boosting local production and exports.

The Minister also assured investors of the region’s readiness, citing ongoing improvements in infrastructure, road networks, energy supply and security. He stressed that traditional authorities and local communities are supportive of initiatives that promote development and economic empowerment.
Speaking on the significance of the expo, organizers indicated that Ashanti Expo 2026 would feature exhibitions, business-to-business (B2B) meetings, investment forums, cultural displays and innovation showcases. The event is expected to highlight Made-in-Ashanti products while promoting the region as a preferred destination for business and tourism.
Stakeholders present at the launch lauded the initiative, describing it as timely and necessary in an era where regions must competitively market themselves to attract capital and development. Some business leaders expressed optimism that the expo would open new doors for local enterprises and strengthen the region’s contribution to the national economy.

Ashanti Expo 2026 is expected to be one of the largest trade and investment events in the region, drawing participants from across Ghana and beyond.

As preparations begin in earnest, expectations are high that the expo will not only attract investors but also redefine Ashanti’s role as a leading economic powerhouse in Ghana and West Africa.
