Residents of Asuokor-Oseikrom and Adiembra-Bedabo in the Ahafo Ano South West District in the Ashanti Region have received a major boost in access to clean drinking water following the commissioning of a new portable water facility by the District Chief Executive, Abubakar Sedik.

The initiative, which forms part of the district’s efforts to improve access to safe and reliable water in rural communities, has been widely welcomed by residents who for years struggled with water shortages and depended on unsafe water sources for their daily needs.

Speaking after the completion of the project, Hon. Abubakar Sedik expressed deep satisfaction at being able to deliver such an essential service to the people. According to him, access to safe drinking water remains one of the most critical necessities for community development and public health.

“I am deeply fulfilled to provide portable drinking water for the good people of Asuokor-Oseikrom and Adiembra-Bedabo. My commitment to improving the lives of our people remains steadfast,” he stated.

The new facility is expected to significantly reduce the burden on residents—particularly women and children—who previously had to travel long distances in search of water.

Community members noted that the project will not only improve sanitation and hygiene but also enhance general well-being and productivity.
Local leaders and residents expressed their gratitude to the District Chief Executive for responding to their longstanding request for a reliable water source.

They described the intervention as timely and impactful, emphasizing that the project will greatly improve daily life in the area.

Many residents recounted the difficulties they faced before the installation of the water system, including reliance on streams and other untreated sources which often posed health risks. With the new facility now operational, the communities are optimistic about improved living conditions.

Hon. Sedik reiterated that his administration remains focused on addressing the pressing needs of communities within the district. He emphasized that development must reach every corner of the district, especially rural settlements that often lack basic infrastructure.

The District Chief Executive also assured residents that the district assembly will continue to prioritize projects that directly impact livelihoods, including water supply, education, health, and road infrastructure.

He further called on community members to take good care of the facility to ensure its sustainability and long-term benefit for future generations.

The project forms part of ongoing development initiatives by the Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly aimed at improving living standards and promoting inclusive development across the district.

For the residents of Asuokor-Oseikrom and Adiembra-Bedabo, the provision of clean drinking water marks a significant step forward in their quest for better living conditions and sustainable community development.
