The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejisu, in the Ashanti Region, Deaconess Jerryne Asante, has extended a heartfelt invitation to family members, friends, sympathizers and the general public to attend the final funeral rites of her beloved mother, Mrs. Esther Mensah, affectionately known as Opoosuo / Akua Addai.
The late Mrs. Mensah, who passed away at the age of 69, will be laid to rest during a solemn and dignified funeral ceremony scheduled to take place from Saturday, March 21 to Sunday, March 22, 2026, at the Asotwe Community Centre (JABGAM Centre).
In a statement inviting the public to join the family in celebrating the life of the departed, Deaconess Jerryne Asante described her late mother as a devoted Christian, a loving mother, and a respected member of the community whose life was marked by humility, compassion and service to others.
According to the family, there will be no wake-keeping ahead of the burial ceremony. However, a series of funeral activities have been scheduled to give relatives, friends and well-wishers the opportunity to pay their last respects.
The lying-in-state will take place on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the Asotwe Community Centre (JABGAM Centre), from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., where mourners will have the opportunity to file past the remains of the late Mrs. Esther Mensah.
Following the viewing, the interment will be held later the same morning at the Asotwe Cemetery, after which funeral rites will continue at the Asotwe Community Centre from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m.
On Sunday, March 22, 2026, a thanksgiving service will be held at the Church of Pentecost, Asotwe, to express gratitude to God for the life and legacy of the departed. The final funeral rites will then continue at the Asotwe Community Centre (JABGAM Centre) from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m., where tributes and reflections on the life of Mrs. Mensah will be shared.
The family has also scheduled a family gathering on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Wiseborn’s Residence, beginning at 8:30 a.m., to conclude the funeral observances.
Deaconess Jerryne Asante, on behalf of the bereaved family, has called on friends, colleagues, traditional authorities, political associates, and residents of Ejisu and surrounding communities to join the family in honoring the memory of their beloved mother.
“She was a pillar of strength to the family and a woman whose kindness touched many lives. We humbly invite all who knew her, as well as friends and sympathizers, to come and support us as we celebrate her life and bid her a peaceful farewell,” she stated.
The funeral is expected to attract a large gathering of mourners from across the Ashanti Region and beyond, as the community comes together to celebrate the life and legacy of the late Mrs. Esther Mensah.
All funeral activities will take place at the Asotwe Community Centre (JABGAM Centre).
