NPP Executive Elections: Manso Nkwanta MP allegedly orders Thugs to assault party executive

Tension is mounting within the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Manso Nkwanta following allegations by Ibrahim Oppong, popularly known as “Soso,” that the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Tweneboa Kodua Fokuo allegedly ordered some macho men to assault him six days after the party’s executive elections.

The incident, which reportedly occurred on May 22, 2026, six days after the elections has sparked outrage among some party supporters and residents, with many condemning the violence and calling for calm within the party ranks.

According to Ibrahim Oppong, who was the victim in the incident, he sustained various degrees of injuries after he was allegedly attacked by a group of men believed to be affiliated with the MP. He claimed the assault was linked to disagreements and unresolved tensions arising from the recently held constituency executive elections on album accumulation.

Speaking on the incident, Ibrahim Oppong alleged that the suspected thugs stormed the area during a confrontation and physically attacked him in the presence of personnel from the Ghana Police Service.

He further claimed that officers who were present at the scene failed to intervene while the assault was ongoing despite witnessing the incident.

Some eyewitnesses who were at the scene also confirmed seeing uniformed police officers nearby during the incident but alleged that no attempt was made to stop the attackers from assaulting Ibrahim Oppong.

The victim is therefore calling on the national leadership of the New Patriotic Party and the Ghana Police Service to investigate the matter and ensure justice is served.

Meanwhile, the MP has yet to response to the allegations and constituency executives have since condermed the act.
