The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West, Hon Abubakar Sedik, has officially broken ground for the construction of a new 24-Hour Economy Model Market in Mankranso.

Designed to transform the district into a major commercial hub, the modern facility aims to stimulate round-the-clock economic growth, create jobs, and boost local household incomes.

The multi-purpose project is being executed by Cosman 21 Trading and Construction Limited under the technical supervision of Eco Planner and Engineering Consult. It is scheduled for completion within three years.

Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony on Thursday, 4th June 2026, Hon Sedik emphasised that the initiative reflects the central government’s commitment to decentralisation and localised economic development.

”Our gathering here is not merely to perform a ceremonial function, but to commence a project that will contribute meaningfully to the economic transformation of our district and improve the livelihoods of our people,” Sedik stated.

Project Specifications and Amenities.

Upon completion, the Mankranso 24-Hour Economy Market will feature 250 lockable and open-air shops designed to resolve long-standing logistical bottlenecks for local farmers and traders.

To ensure safety, convenience, and community welfare, the complex will integrate several vital auxiliary infrastructure components directly into the facility.

The master layout secures emergency response and security through a dedicated police post and an on-site fire station.

Essential health and community welfare services will be managed through an integrated healthcare clinic, an on-site pharmacy, and a daycare centre.

Additionally, the market will anchor specialised commerce and administration by housing a women’s bank, offices, and guest accommodations.

Call for Quality and Collaboration

The DCE urged the contracting firm and project consultants to adhere strictly to technical specifications, demanding that construction meet the highest quality standards and be delivered on schedule.

He called on Mankranso residents to cooperate fully with the construction team and take active ownership of the facility once it is commissioned.

Mr Sedik expressed his gratitude to President John Mahama, the Ashanti Regional Minister, and traditional stakeholders for their collaborative efforts in bringing the development project to fruition.
