The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has called on Ghanaians, particularly the youth, to embrace a renewed mindset, stressing that the transformation of the nation begins with the transformation of the individual mind.
Delivering a keynote address at the Mentality Conference 2026 held in Sunyani in the Bono Region, Dr. Amoakohene urged participants to cultivate purpose, discipline and integrity as the foundation for national development.
The conference, organised by the Gentlemen’s Network in collaboration with Sonlife City Church, was held on the theme, “Igniting Purpose, Empowering Potentials and Impacting Nations.”
Addressing a packed audience of young people, professionals, students and church leaders, the Regional Minister said every remarkable achievement starts as an idea before becoming reality.
According to him, meaningful development in communities and nations cannot be achieved without first transforming the mindset of the people.
“Before we can transform our communities, we must first transform our minds. Every great achievement begins as a thought before it becomes a reality,” he stated.
Dr. Amoakohene highlighted the unique relationship between the brain and the mind, explaining that a person’s mindset shapes his or her purpose, leadership qualities, character and overall contribution to society.
He reminded participants that unlike many organs in the human body that can be replaced through medical procedures, the brain has no substitute.
“Many organs in the human body can be transplanted or replaced, but there is no replacement for your brain and your mind. They are your greatest assets and must be protected, developed and constantly renewed,” he emphasised.
Drawing inspiration from Romans 12:2, Dr. Amoakohene encouraged participants not to conform to negative societal influences but to pursue continuous personal growth through the renewal of their minds.
He urged them to prioritise purpose over material success and to embrace ethical leadership founded on discipline, integrity, humility and lifelong learning.
According to him, these values are essential for producing responsible leaders capable of driving Ghana’s socio-economic transformation.
Reflecting on his own journey in public service, the Ashanti Regional Minister shared personal experiences on leadership, resilience and humility.
He encouraged both public and private sector leaders to intentionally create opportunities that enable young people to contribute meaningfully to national development.
Dr. Amoakohene stressed that empowering the next generation is critical to sustaining Ghana’s progress and building a prosperous future.
People Will Drive Ghana’s Transformation
He observed that although infrastructure development remains important, lasting national transformation depends largely on the quality of the nation’s human resources.
“Ghana’s transformation will not be driven by infrastructure alone. It will be driven by people with renewed minds, strong values and an unwavering commitment to excellence and service,” he noted.
He therefore challenged participants to become agents of positive change in their homes, workplaces and communities by demonstrating integrity, innovation and servant leadership.

Dr. Amoakohene expressed gratitude to the leadership of Sonlife City Church and the Gentlemen’s Network for the invitation and the opportunity to interact with what he described as an inspiring audience.
He called on all stakeholders to continue investing in programmes that nurture leadership, purpose and national consciousness among the youth.
Quoting Romans 12:2 in conclusion, he urged participants to remain committed to personal transformation.
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
He said a renewed mind remains the most powerful tool for building stronger communities, effective leadership and a prosperous Ghana.
